1. Set up the Better Place page. (or other fundraiser platform page) — this includes ensuring all account info is accurate and bank account is verified and connected to your account

  2. Plan campaign timeline. This will help you determine when to communicate with followers, plan when to make a social media push, or when to rally your volunteers. You may want to answer these questions:

    1. What is the urgency of the need?
    2. For how long should the campaign run?
    3. What are the key milestones? (E.g. first €1,000, half-way, €500 left, end of campaign)
  3. Write the campaign story. The campaign page should tell a compelling story. Consider including:

    1. What is the need?
    2. Why is it urgent, why is it need right now?
    3. What is the goal?
    4. Who is the organization?
    5. What will the impact be?
    6. Here's the campaign copy we used for the last campaign, as an example.
  4. Communication with your staff and supporters.

    1. Before launching your campaign, write the following comms:
      1. Soft launch email copy for your closest internal supporters (these are people in your inner circle who are basically guaranteed to support your campaign)
      2. Email copy for your broader following (these are your social media followers, acquaintances, previous supporters who may have donated to your org once or twice)
      3. Social media copy and graphics — this should be what you use for your own communications, but something that you might also be able to share with supporters so all they have to do is copy/paste what you give them to help promote the campaign. The easier you make it for people to share, the better! They will take action!
    2. Create an external-facing document or campaign plan that you can easily share with supporters, volunteers or staff. Here's what we made for the WiE campaign. You can duplicate and follow the same template, just substitute your new campaign copy and info you developed in the steps above.
    3. Ask people to fundraise on your behalf! You can share these tips with your fundraisers to help them ask for money from their friends and family.
  5. Partnerships. One way to expand your reach and boost your campaign is by reaching out to like-minded organizations and asking them to endorse and share your campaign. Make this super easy for them by providing a short, but clear, message that includes:

    1. What the campaign is about
    2. Why it's important to the partner, their cause and their followers
    3. W**hat it means for them to support the campaign — this is very important. When it's clear what it means to be a "partner" and what is expected of them, it'll be easier for them to decide whether or not to commit (**e.g. "we'll add your logo to our campaign page. All we ask is for you to share the campaign link with your followers sometime during the week of X/XX/XXXX.") Attach your campaign share graphics and some social media copy so it's very easy for partners to copy/paste and share. Again, the easier your make it, the more likely they are to do it!
